Usha Amorphous Metals Pvt. Ltd. (UAML) has restarted the production of Amorphous Core for Distribution Transformers.

Amorphous Metal core for Distribution Transformers (AMDTs) from UAML represent the ultra-low loss solution, delivering the highest efficiencies. Cores are manufactured with a unique alloy whose structure of metal atoms occurs in a random pattern. Since CRGO has an organized grain structure with much higher resistance to magnetization cycles, which leads to higher core losses.

Since, there is no rule of atomic arrangement, the hysteresis loss is small when the flux of magnetic induction passes the iron core. Also, eddy current loss is decreased because the thickness is approximately 0.03 mm, which is about 1/10
comparing with CRGO. Amorphous core transformers offer a 70 to 80% reduction in no-load losses compared to transformers using CRGO core material for the same rating of Distribution Transformers.

UAML produces high quality amorphous distributed gap (wound) cores according to Customer specification for single phase and three phase distribution transformer applications

UAML uses magnetic field for annealing process to optimize the magnetic property and for stress relief too.

UAML test the amorphous cores on 100 % testing condition.

The much lower losses of the AMDTs result in significant energy and monetary savings over the lifetime of the transformer
